Jacob's Nine Month Check-up

Jacob had his 9-month check-up today.
My skinny-minny weighs 18lbs 14oz which is the 25th percentile for his age. I think he works off his baby fat with all of that energy!
He is 28 1/2 inches long and is in the 60th percentile for height.
The Dr. was impressed with his many newfound skills. He demonstrated most of them in the office while I was trying to concentrate on asking her my list of first-time-mom-questions.
We are going to try some more finger foods and yogurt this week.
We'll be back for our 1-year check-up in 3 short months.

Jacob Turns 9 Month's Old!

I can't believe my baby boy is 9 months old!
He is getting so big and learning so much!
A few weeks ago he started taking 2-3 steps at a time and last week he walked across the living room!!!
He learned how to feed himself and loves Cheerios and Puffs. I try to tell him "nice" and make him pick them up one at a time, but sometimes he goes at them like an animal and crams all of them in his mouth at once. I think we are going to start trying other finger foods next week.
Oh and my favorite - He learned to say MAMA! Actually, it is MomMom - works for me!
Below are a few of the pictures I took on his 9-month "birthday".

Take me home country roads

Jacob and I just got back from our trip to West Virginia. OK - well, maybe we have been home for a few weeks now and this is the first chance I have to upload to the site!
We had a great time! Jacob really enjoyed seeing the family and had many "firsts" while he was there. He rode a tractor and an Argo, pet a dog - pet 3 dogs, played with the rain, screamed at a dear, ate a gram cracker, played on the swings, dipped his feet in a creek... Of course, I have numerous pictures of each. I will try to filter some of them, but he is so stinkin' cute, it is hard!

Out of the 600+ pictures that I took while I was home, I picked my favorite of Jacob with each family member. I am bummed that I did not get a picture of him with Aunt Terry, Aunt Jill, Aunt Becky and Uncle Jaime! We will be back later this year, you can't escape my camera forever!

Here is Jacob with is incredibly proud PawPaw. We were only there 2 weeks and Jacob had him wrapped around his little finger. I love to watch these 2 together.

Equally as proud - MawMaw. She made Jacob feel so at home. Jacob had his own crib, bath, and personal squeezer!

This is Jacob's Great Grandma Lilly. She has so many grandchildren and great grandchildren, I could not even begin to count them. I am sure it is well over 50. At 91 (good thing she does not have the internet to see that I have posted her age) she still lives on her own, cans her own vegies and cooks for herself.

Jacob with his Great Grandpa. Smiles are few and far between with my Grandpa these days. But his eyes light up when Jacob comes around and Jacob was quite drawn to Grandpa as well.

Jacob with his Great Grandma. She adores him! Everything is fun at Grandma's house! She was such an important part of my childhood, I wish we had more time to spend with her.

Jacob and his Grandma (and Angel). My mom seemed to enjoy her time with her grandson. (Even though she did not get to sneak him any treats that mommy does not let him have).

Jacob and his Great Uncle Terry. I am not sure if Uncle Terry knew quite what to do with him. Jacob is a wild man! Here is one of a very few calm moments.

Jacob and his cousin Jacki. Jacki and my cousin Bobby recently married (congratulations). Bobby is not pictured here with Jacob because I think he is afraid to hold him! He had better figure it out!
Jacob and his "Uncle" Sam. My cousin Samantha was a little surprised at the amount of energy that can come out of such a little fella. This face pretty much sums up Jacob's visit with Samantha... This is not the face of an unhappy child, this is the face of a wild man screaming with glee to the top of his lungs.
Jacob and his Uncle George. Yep - still a wild man!

Jacob's First Tractor Ride!

If you see a black box for the slide show, just hit the "x"
and the slide will show up!
I am not sure who had the most fun here... Jacob
or PawPaw. The most exciting part was when Jacob learned to raise and lower the bucket and was
actually strong enough to do it!

The Argo

If the box is black, just hit the "x" and the slide will appear.

What is an Argo you might ask!?!...

Well it kind of serves the purpose of a 4 -wheeler,

drives like a tractor and turns into a boat when

you take it into water. I know!

PawPaw has very cool toys!

Dad and Ruth's Beautiful Land

My Dad and Ruth have a beautiful home and property. I took several pictures while I was there, but none do it justice.
You never know what kind of wildlife you will run into there. They have seen deer (of course), turkeys (dozens), all kinds of birds, fix, squirrels, ground hogs, coyotes, bears, and the stream in the picture below is stocked with trout.
This must be what the song "Almost Heaven" is talking about!

Jacob finds the Toilet Paper!
